Guest Blog: Carole King’s Support in JMP’s Mission
For 38 years, my nearest neighbor in Idaho was a forest. I’ve seen firsthand how functional forest landscapes sustain wildlife, native species, communities, and the climate–and the forests also sustain themselves. They don’t need “management,” “treatment,” “fuel reduction,” or “restoration.”
Yet, for decades, National Forests have been systematically degraded by commercial logging facilitated by our own government in the name of the aforementioned euphemisms and many more. This is not protection. It’s destruction, subsidized by taxpayers and justified by misleading language.
Forests are crucial allies in the fight for climate stability. If we want safe communities and a livable planet, we, as members of the public, must stop accepting logging under the guise of euphemisms as a solution.
The John Muir Project is leading the charge to defend our public forests from industrial logging under the guise of forest management. JMP uses science, advocacy, and legal action to expose harmful policies, educate the public, and protect the ecological integrity of our fire-adapted National Forests.
I am a strong supporter and ally of the John Muir Project. Its founders and others who work for the organization are reliably knowledgeable about science. Everyone at JMP is committed to protect forests, solve the climate crisis, and vanquish falsehoods with facts, and they need our support to keep doing all of it.
Here are two ways in which YOU can help protect ecosystems from industrial exploitation.
- Follow JMP to learn the facts so you can dispel misinformation with your knowledge.
- Donate to JMP so these scientists and their dedicated team can continue to safeguard forests for future generations of thousands of species–including our own!
I follow the John Muir Project, and I donate. I encourage you to join me in both. Don’t let our forests become clearcuts.
